Electrix secured the competitively tendered period contract for Network Pole Replacement and Line Renewal in the Central Otago area for Delta, Asset Managers for the Aurora Energy Ltd Central Otago distribution network.

The scope of this contract includes the replacement of all aspects of the aging Central Otago overhead network including poles, cross-arms, and conductor. In accordance with Delta policy, the wherever safely possible this work "live" using "glove and barrier" techniques to improve system availability.

Currently in the final year of this five year contract, many hundreds of poles and cross-arms, and many kilometres of conductor have been replaced without serious incident, despite much of the work being undertaken in the challenging Central Otago
environment and climate.

Based out of Electrix Alexandra depot, the geographical area of this contract ranges from Glenorchy (at the western end of Lake Wakatipu), to Tarras in the north, Roxburgh in the south and all of the Central Otago and Lakes district in between. Specialist four wheel drive insulated elevated work platforms and crane trucks are used to access remote and/or difficult sites, with outages arranged where work cannot safely be completed "live".

Electrix has developed a close relationship with Delta operational staff in Central Otago with whom work is coordinated to be completed within the budgetary and time constraints of the contract.
